‘Bail restores my faith in judiciary’
Elated over grant of bail to her human right activists son Dr Binayak Sen, by a Supreme Bench on Friday, who was convicted in a sedition case, his octogenerian ailing mother Anusuya Sen said that the order has restored her confidence in the country’s judiciary.
Dr Sen, is undergoing life imprisonment in a Chhattisgarh jail on charges of sedition and links with Maoists.
“I am really ecstatic as the news came to as fresh air on the auspicious Bengali New year day,” Anusuya told in her initial reaction.
Speaking to media persons, she said: “Me and friends of Binayak were absolutely demoralised when the Chhattisgarh high court earlier refused bail to him.” It appeared that the all roads are closed as I would never be able to see my son again even though I knew that he is innocent, she told the media persons.
The Supreme court order in other term proved that “Satyameva Jayate” (only truth prevails), she added further. It is a great feeling and I am counting moments to see Binyak, she said.
She said: I have not heard in details about the observations made by the Supreme court bench, but it is clear that the judges were not at all convinced about the charges of sedition levelled against Binayak.”
At present she is planning to receive Binayak when he would actually be released, she indicated.
