‘Cong brought Chavan as state unit is corrupt’
Shiv Sena chief Bal Thackeray on Thursday said that the appointment of Prithviraj Chavan as Maharashtra chief minister indicates that all the Congress leaders in the state are corrupt.
Mr Thackeray said that the Congress wanted the Maharashtra CM to be “non-corrupt,” but they could not find anyone in the state who would fit the bill.
“Rahul Gandhi had recently announced that the person appointed as Maharashtra CM should be honest and have a clean image. Mr Gandhi showed some late wisdom. It also means that every Congress leader in Maharashtra is corrupt, undeserving and characterless. This is the same reason why Prithviraj was sent to Mumbai,” Mr Thackeray wrote in the editorial published in the Sena mouthpiece Saamana.
The Sena chief also said that Mr Chavan, though not a known figure in Maharashtra politics, is a seasoned politician and also has a political legacy.
