‘Gogoi using CID to scare RTI activists’
Noted RTI activist Akhil Gogoi here on Tuesday accused Assam chief minister Tarun Gogoi of trying to intimidate him by using the Criminal Investigation Department of Assam police by hurrying an inquiry into recovery of a missing case diary of two Tada cases against health minister Himanta Biswa Sarma which were dropped due to non-production of original case-diaries.
Mr Gogoi told reporters that they are going to submit the case diaries to the Supreme Court with all information about its recovery by Krishak Mukti Sangram Samiti (KMSS). Informing that CID sleuths wanted to disclose the name of the person who gave them the origical case diary of the two Tada cases, Mr Gogoi, however, claimed that he refused to give these details to CID as they have already started preparation to hand it over to the Apex court.
Mr Gogoi said, “We had presented certain documentary evidence on disproportionate assets of Assam health minister Himanta Biswa Sarma but chief minister instead of ordering any probe in all those charges, chose to defend the minister by ordering CID inquiry against me.”
