‘Gujarat treated like enemy state’
Gujarat chief minister Narendra Modi continues his attacks on the Congress, CBI and the Delhi sultanate saying they are treating “Gujarat as enemy state”.
On Saturday, Mr Modi hit out at the centre and its agencies like the CBI, which are out to “undermine his government”.
Playing the Gujarat card at which he is past master, he said the CBI’s attempt to shift the trial of the encounter case outside Gujarat is an “insult to the judicial system, its judges and lawyers”.
Mr Modi cited examples of the Best Bakery case and Bilkis Bano case to reveal that all investigation, case papers and charge sheets were prepared by the Gujarat police even though the cases were transferred to Mumbai. “The Gujarat police did no wrong. It was right and the CBI was wrong. The CBI has launched a tirade against the courts, judges, police and people of Gujarat, which cannot be tolerated,” he thundered.
“Do you not consider Gujarat as a part of India? Why is Gujarat being treated as if it was part of an enemy state? Are judges of Gujarat useless? Other courts of the country are good, but courts in Gujarat are bad,” Mr Modi said while addressing a public function organised by Amhedabad Municipal Corporation.
Earlier, on Thursday night, Modi, while slamming the Congress and CBI, had said the Congress’ political existence in Gujarat depends on the CBI and therefore its officials would be chosen to contest civic body’s elections in Ahmedabad. Subsequently, on Friday, he said the Centre would not succeed in “its dirty designs of undermining his development-oriented government in the state”.
