‘Journalists to face PAC on 2G scam’
Senior BJP leader and Public Accounts Committee (PAC) chairman Murli Manohar Joshi has said that journalists whose names cropped up in the 2G spectrum allocation scam tapes will face the committee. In an interview to a private news channel on Sunday, Dr Joshi said “editors and senior journalists, who have incriminated themselves in a way on the 2G scam tapes, will be summoned by the PAC.” He added that the telecom scam had caused huge losses to the exchequer and that if the taped conversation points towards someone, the PAC would summon that individual.
The conversations between certain journalists and corporate lobbyist Niira Radia tapped by I-T officials and leaked to the media have been severely criticised by people and political parties.

Mamata: Centre kept me in dark
RAJIB CHOWDHURI
Kolkata
Jan. 16: Taking strong exception to what CPI(M) general secretary Prakash Karat on Sunday said about the Trinamul Congress’ role on price hike of petro products, railway minister Mamata Banerjee argued that her party, despite being an ally of the Congress at the UPA government, was kept in dark about the Centre’s decision to increase the price of petro products.
“Even though we are a party in power (at the Centre) we do not have an iota of knowledge about the move,” she said, adding that the price hike will hit the common people the most.
