‘Muslims will also vote for BJP in Assam’
Former Union minister Syed Shahnawaz Hussain, the most prominent Muslim face of the BJP, said here on Thursday that there has been a significant change in the mindset of Muslim voters and Muslim youth are no more hesitant to vote for BJP.
“They want development and the Congress formula of keeping Muslims away from BJP by portraying them as a communal party is no longer effective,” said Mr Hussain who got an overwhelming response from people in Muslim-dominated Barrak Valley of Assam.
Mr Hussain said, “We are contesting these elections in a changed scenario, as on one hand the party has an excellent track record in BJP-ruled states, while on the other hand is the tainted image of the Congress party at the Centre as well as in the states.”
Mr Hussain, who was at the centre of attraction for many prominent Muslim leaders of the state said, “The Congress has deliberately been trying to create a fear-psychosis among Muslims for BJP to polarise them for vote but now people have started understanding the blackmailing tactics of the party.”
