‘No Advani clean chit to Gandhis’

In an effort to calm the growing unease in the BJP over its parliamentary party chairman L.K. Advani’s regret letter to Congress chief Sonia Gandhi for naming her family in the party task force’s report on illegal Swiss bank accounts, the party on Monday claimed Mr Advani never gave “clean chit” to the Gandhi family on the issue.

Sources said the issue of Mr Advani’s letter was raised during the NDA leaders’ meeting on Monday where Mr Advani clarified his stand. Later, NDA convenor and JD(U) chief Sharad Yadav defended Mr Advani’s letter to Mrs Gandhi.
“The allegations were never refuted. But when she refuted the charge, Advani accepted it... We are in politics and fight for what is right,” said Mr Yadav. He said NDA will raise the black money issue during the Budget Session.
