‘No possibility of reconciliation’
Senior BJP leader and Supreme Court advocate Ravishankar Prasad, who argued the Ayodhya case before the Supreme Court on Thursday on behalf of a Hindu religious leader opposing deferment of the verdict in the case, said that there was no possibility of reconciliation between the contesting parties.
Stating that the only solution possible now was through the judicial order, Mr Prasad, who is also a senior BJP leader, said that therefore the Allahabad high court should be allowed to pronounce its verdict urging the top court the same.
However, the Supreme Court has for the time being issued a directive to the HC to defer the Ayodhya title suit verdict, which was to be announced on Friday. Mr Prasad said, while speaking to this newspaper, that he felt that the matter needs to be disposed off at the earliest.
He said that he had argued against the deferment of the judgment and told the court that the verdict could have been delivered on Friday and then the matter would have come to the Supreme Court through an appeal by any of the aggrieved party.
He said in that case, the Supreme Court could have had a larger canvas to look into the entire issue. Mr Prasad also questioned the intention of Ramesh Chandra Tripathi whose petition was considered by the top court to defer the Ayodhya verdict by a week.
He said Ramesh Chandra Tripathi, who appealed for postponement of the verdict, had not appeared in 90 days during the argument on deferment at Allahabad high court.
According to Mr Prasad, “The entire application of Tripathi was lacking in bonafide.” He argued that how can a stranger who is a non serious party disrupt the announcement of the verdict. The high court tried for reconciliation, but this man (Tripathi) had not appeared then.
