‘No pressure due to Samjhauta findings’
Union home secretary G.K. Pillai rejected the view that recent developments in the investigations into the Samjhauta Express blast indicating involvement of right-wing extremism will put pressure on India while talking with Pakistan on terrorism.
“It will not put pressure on us,” he said. “The investigations are open. Our courts are free. We are investigating the same. We had told them in June also that the investigations are on and as something crystallises, we will share it with them,” said Mr. Pillai.
With regard to the Mumbai attacks probe the home secretary said, “We need to get evidence fully on board. We cannot call them here because the request for examining his wife is still pending with the US government. We have not received any response yet.”. When asked whether India would seek permission from the US to send the Commission, he said “Yes, that is the legal process which is required. Once the charge sheet is filed, it will be done”.
The National Investigation Agency, which is probing the case, is expected to file a charge sheet soon against the Headley, who is accused of having done rece of targets before the 26/11 Mumbai attacks.
