‘Resignation too late, too little’
The Congress on Saturday termed Gujarat minister Amit Shah’s resignation as “too little, too late” and attacked the BJP leadership for fully “supporting and justifying” his actions and showing no no “remorse or apology”.
“The resignation has come too little, too late. To resign after resisting and delaying the issue for days and weeks is not graceful nor voluntary. There is no remorse, no contrition, no acceptance and no apology. The BJP leadership and Narendra Modi are fully supporting and justifying the actions till now. I am not surprised. It is the true sanskar (culture) and also the true chal (conduct), charitra (character) and chehra (face) of BJP,” Congress spokesperson Abhishek Singhvi told reporters here.
He noted that the CBI case against Mr Shah had been initiated in January and if the BJP had felt aggrieved, it should have approached the Supreme Court at that time against the “so-called misuse” of the agency instead of indulging in “verbal acrobatics” now.
