‘SAD govt responsible for floods’
The BJP had to face some embarrassment after cricketer-turned BJP MP Navjot Singh Sidhu on Thursday also attacked the SAD-BJP government in Punjab for not doing enough to control floods in the state.
BJP chief Nitin Gadkari had formed a two member committee comprising of Mr Sidhu and Captain Abhimanyu to visit flood affected areas of Haryana and Punjab and submit a report on the issue.
“The floods were caused because of poor water management. The governments (of Punjab and Haryana) are directly involved as inspection (of flood prone areas) should have been completed by June 30,” Mr Sidhu said.
The Amritsar MP highlighted the problems faced by people and the “fact” that 70 per cent of agricultural land in the areas was submerged under water.
