‘Sonia brought YSR status’
Andhra Pradesh chief minister Kiran Kumar reddy on Saturday said that while Mr Jagan Mohan Reddy had entered politics a year or two years ago, others, like himself, had been around much longer.
“It is their entry into politics, a year or two years ago, and we are the people here from the Congress party. The leaders here. We had been working with Rajasekhar Reddy for last 20-30 years,” Mr K.K. Reddy said. Recalling history, The CM said the late YSR attained stature only because of Mrs Sonia Gandhi. “So, if anyone is indebted to the Congress high command or Sonia Gandhiji or the Congress party, it is Rajasekhar Reddy and the family of Rajasekhar Reddy. It is because of the Congress that Rajasekhar Reddy became a tall leader not only in the state, but in the country,” Mr K.K. Reddy said.
When asked about the Srikrishna Committee report, Mr Reddy said, “The Congress high command is interacting with the MPs of the two regions. I think the process is going on. Once this process of interaction is over I think we will know what the Congress high command does. Let them decide.” On the pro-Telangana agitation, the CM said, “Democratically whatever they are allowed to do, we are not going to come in the way of that (sic). They can protest according to the democratic rights they have got. These demonstrations and other things are going on... And they have not crossed any limit of lawlessness. If it is within the limit, the government does not mind.”
