‘Ticketing issues still dog CWG’
CGF president Mike Fennell on Sunday pointed out about various problems, particularly ticketing issues, in conduct of the Games. The OC chairman Suresh Kalmadi, however, said that things were generally fine.
Meanwhile, even as the new ticketing head was appointed, OC officials maintained that the problem occurred due to late arrival of bulk of the hi-tech tickets from Nasik printing press.
“Bungled ticket sales, corruption of data in the online information system and transportation problems continue to dog the Commonwealth Games,” said CGF chief Mike Fennell.
The daily media briefing, where Mr Kalmadi made an appearance after two days, had Mr Fennell once again listing the glitches that are plaguing the event, which on Sunday entered its second week. “We get a lot of complaints about people being unable to buy tickets,” said Mr Fennell, adding that “we continue to receive reports on ticketing. attendance at wrestling, boxing and tennis has been quite good.” And in a bid to fill in the “empty” stands, Mr Fennell stated that the organisers have now agreed to allow athletes to enter whatever events they want to watch.
