‘Too early to name PM candidate’
BJP president Nitin Gadkari made it clear that the party will contest the next Assembly elections in Rajasthan under the collective leadership of Leader of the Opposition Vasundhara Raje and party president Arun Chaturvedi. But he said it is too early to name a prime ministerial candidate as the party has various able leaders.
Addressing a press conference in Jaipur on Tuesday, Mr Gadkari said the party’s parliamentary board will decide the name of prime ministerial candidate at the appropriate time.
On the last day of his two-day visit, the BJP president said India must act with an iron hand to deal with terrorism. “America has punished the culprits of 9/11. Will India do the same in reference to the terrorists involved in Mumbai attack?” he asked the UPA government.
He said with the arrest of David Headley it has been confirmed that Pakistan had supported these terrorists. “India should act against the terrorists,” he added.
He also said that the issue of Ram Mandir was not political one: “Ye Bjp ke agenda pe nahi hai (It is not on the party’s agenda),” he said.
Mr Gdkari said, adding that a grand temple should be built there.
