‘Will consult experts on PM offer’
Senior BJP leader and Parliament’s Public Accounts Committee (PAC) chairman Murli Manohar Joshi on Friday said he will take a decision on Prime Minister Manmohan Singh’s offer to appear before the committee in the 2G spectrum case after consulting legal experts. Dr Joshi, who met Lok Sabha Speaker Meira Kumar on Friday, apparently discussed this issue and took her views on it.
Dr Joshi, who after meeting BJP chief Nitin Gadkari on Thursday, clarified that he stands by his party’s demand of a JPC probe into the 2G spectrum scam, also said that he was not fast-forwarding the probe by the PAC. “The PAC cannot call a minister. It can call officials, secretaries and individuals. But as I have made clear, the Prime Minister’s case is different as he has himself offered to appear,” he said.
We will have to discuss the issue with the constitutional experts before taking a decision,” Dr Joshi said.
