’10 Games: L-G reviews traffic plan
Lieutenant governor Tejendra Khanna on Thursday reviewed transport and traffic planning for the opening and closing ceremonies of the Games.
“Mr Khanna chaired the second high-level meeting of inter-agency core group on micro planning for the opening and closing ceremonies of the Games on October 3 and
October 14. The entry and exit and parking of vehicles was discussed at length and streamlined after due discussion by all the stakeholders present,” a Raj Nivas media release stated.
The meeting was attended by the chairman, organising committee, Suresh Kalmadi and chief secretary Rakesh Mehta. “Transportation sub-plans for the opening day” and “lane reservations for Commonwealth Games traffic” from October 3 to 14 were prepared by games adviser R. Narayanswamy in consultation with the Delhipolice, organising committee and stakeholders. The issue of lane reservations for accredited vehicles during the Games was also finalised and accordingly approval for the painting of the reserved lanes (accredited lanes) was given by Mr Khanna, the statement added.
