10 injured in West Bengal clashes
Trinamool Congress and CPI(M) supporters clashed during a borough election under Kolkata Corporation at Baghajatin in South 24 Parganas district on Friday, leaving ten injured, police sources said. Stones were pelted in the clash during the elections to borough no 11 and 12 under the added area of the Kolkata Corporation, the sources said. Among the injured were Trinamool Congress leader Rupa Bachi and CPI(M) leader Chandana Ghosh Dastidar. Police and Rapid Action Forces made a lathi-charge to disperse the warring sides, the sources said. The ten injured were admitted to the SSKM hospital. The CPI(M) alleged that Trinamool supporters provoked them when they were peacefully demonstrating against the 'unethical way' the elections were being conducted in both the boroughs. The Trinamool Congress, on the other hand, claimed that the police and the CPI(M) supporters attacked them leaving many injured. The CPI(M) has called a bandh in the two boroughs on Saturday.
