12 killed in clash between Naxalites and criminals
Two villagers and 10 Naxalites were killed in firing between a group of criminals and Maoists in Munger district in Bihar, the police said on Wednesday.
The firing took place in Hiranman diara area on Monday night following a dispute, superintendent of police M. Sunil Naik said. Four bodies that of the villagers and two Naxalites have been found so far, the SP said.
He said the bodies of the Naxalites who were killed during the gunfire were severed into several pieces and dumped in river Gandak by the criminals, he said, adding divers were engaged to trace rest of the bodies.
According to intelligence inputs, the locals were fed up with the "rude and violent" behaviour of the Naxalites in the area, Naik said.
