13/2 hit: ‘Red corner’ notices for 3 Iranians
The investigative agencies have identified three Iranians as suspects in the February 13 terrorist attack on an Israeli woman diplomat here last month, and the government has initiated the process of issuing Interpol “red corner” notices for their arrest. Warrants have already been issued against all three, who fled India shortly after the attack.
India has sought Iran’s cooperation in bringing them to justice. Iran’s ambassador to India, Mahdi Nabizadeh, has been informed of developments in the ongoing probe. But the external affairs ministry, given New Delhi’s close ties with Tehran, also issued a statement on Friday saying: “Investigations in the case are ongoing, and no conclusions can be drawn at this stage.”
Delhi police commissioner B.K. Gupta said on Friday that journalist Syed Mohammad Ahmad Kazmi, who was arrested here on March 4 for his alleged role in the terror conspiracy, was instrumental in reconnoitring the Israeli embassy and had acted as a facilitator and conspirator in the attack.
