15 Maoists held for killing 27 CRPF men
The Chhattisgarh police on Wednesday arrested 15 Maoists allegedly involved in the killing of 27 CRPF jawans at Dhorai, in the state’s Narayanpur district, on June 29.
“Fifteen Maoists were arrested during combing operations by police and STF personnel at three different places in Bijapur district early on Wednesday. It is a major success for the police, the arrested Maoists provided details on the June 29 ambush of CRPF personnel,” Bijapur district ASP Rajendra Dah said. “The arrested rebels confessed to the slaying of CRPF troopers at Dhorai,” he added.
“Pandu (CPI-Maoist Dandakaranya Division commander) and Ektu (his associate) had been tracking their movements since morning that day. The rebels then waited for the security personnel to reach a strategic place in the jungle to launch an attack from all sides by opening fire and lobbing hand grenades,” the police quoted the arrested Maoists as saying.
