156 fall sick in Alwar

In a suspected case of water contamination, 156 people, including several children, fell sick in Alwar district in 48 hours, officials said on Sunday.

"Residents at Babera, Kothiyan Ki Dhani, Chaudhaniyaon Ki Dhani, Swamiyaon Ki Dhani and surrounding places in Bansur area started rushing to hospital with complaints of abdomen pain, vomit from Friday last," Alwar CMHO, Mr C. Dhanawat, told PTI.

"156 such cases have been reported till this morning and 39 people, including 25 children, are still hospitalised in Kotputli," Mr Dhanaway said.

"Several teams headed by government doctors are camping in the areas to treat people," he said.

"Reason is not ascertained yet but villages are suspecting contaminated water behind it. We have sent samples of water for testing, and report is awaited," he added.
