18-year-old gangraped in Hyderabad

In yet another shocking incident of gangrape in the city, an 18-year-old girl was raped by two men at a deserted area in IDPL Colony, Balanagar.
The girl, a native of Kothagudem, Khammam, was working in a textile shop at Ameerpet, and was staying in a friend’s house.
One of the acccused, 22-year-old Venkat, used to supply water to the shop where the girl worked and so knew her.
He told the girl he would drop her home on his bike. Instead, he took her to Balanagar on Sunday night while his friend followed them.
After raping her, the two men left her on the main road at Kukatpally, where she approached a police night patrol, Balanagar assitant commissioner of police S. Damoder said.
On Tuesday, the police took the two accused into custody, but is yet to officially arrest them.
“We are verifying the information the girl gave us,” Balanagar DCP P. Pramod Kumar said.
The police said the victim came to Hyderabad nine days ago after a quarrel with her parents.
“Her friend was working in a textile shop at Ameerpet, and she joined the same shop after coming to the city,” a police official said.
