18th useless day as Parliament's adjourned again over JPC call
New Delhi: Both the Lok Sabha and Rajya Sabha were adjourned till noon for the 18th successive day on Tuesday over the opposition's demand for a Joint Parliamentary Committee (JPC) probe into the 2G spectrum controversy.
In the Lok Sabha, opposition members came near Speaker Meira Kumar as soon as the house met and raised slogans, demanding the JPC. She urged them to go back to their seats but the opposition members did not relent. She then adjourned the house till noon.
Similar scenes were witnessed in the Rajya Sabha where Chairman Hamid Ansari took up the question hour as soon as the house met. However, opposition members continued pressing their demand for a JPC. The chairman adjourned the house till noon.
This is the 18th successive sitting of the Lok Sabha when the opposition has forced adjournment of the question hour over this demand. The Rajya Sabha has also seen such adjournments since Nov 10, a day after the winter session of parliament began.
