1st tourism meet for India, Syria
May 11: More than 19 years after the bilateral agreement on tourism cooperation signed between India and the West Asia nation, Syria, the first joint working group meeting was held here on Tuesday.
The agreement was inked between India and Syria on October 8, 1991. Ever since signing of the agreement, not much forward movement had taken place.
However, in the past few months it was decided to take up the tourism issues between the two countries, sources said. It was decided that some actionable bilateral points should be identified and it was in this regard that the meeting of the joint working group was held, they added. The joint working group would take up these issues in future meetings. It was decided to arrange exchange visits of the tour operators and the tourism media so that they understand the packages that can be offered.
