2 arrested for kunda VILLAGE HEAD’s MURDER
The CBI achieved a major breakthrough in the triple murder case in Pratapgarh on Sunday when it arrested two brothers who allegedly shot dead Nanhe Yadav, the village head of Walipur village, in Kunda that triggered off mob violence later in which DSP Zia-ul-Haq was shot dead.
According to CBI sources, Ajay Pal and Vijay Pal, both sons of Kamta Pal who is also a suspect in the case, have been arrested by the agency.
The CBI had earlier recovered the cartridges, SIM cards, mobile phones and other evidence from the two brothers which indicate their direct involvement in the murder of Nanhe Yadav on the night of March 2.
The forensic examination of the cartridges and other recoveries from Pal brothers has given enough substance to CBI to book them under murder charges.
The CBI sources is still probing the larger conspiracy in which role of some influential people from the area is under scrutiny.
Nanhe Yadav was gunned down on March 2 when he was standing at a tea stall in Walipur village. His murder led to mob fury and when DSP Zia-ul-Haq went to the village to take custody of the village head’s body for post-mortem, the mob became restive. In the melee, the slain village head’s young brother Suresh Yadav was shot which further infuriated the crowds that then beat up and shot dead the DSP.
Earlier, the Uttar Pradesh police had arrested two close aides of former UP minister Raja Bhaiyya — Rajiv Singh and Sanjay Singh — both of whom are in CBI custody. The CBI probe so far has revealed that the mob which had gathered after the killing of Nanhe Yadav assaulted the DSP and someone from the group shot him dead.
