2 girl students asked to disrobe in Bengal schools
The horror of school girls continue in West Bengal. In two separate incidents, two girls were asked to disrobe by their teachers in their respective schools.
The first incident took place at Gopalnagar in North 24 Parganas and the other at Sutahata in Haldia of East Midnapore.
A Class 8 student of Gopalnagar Giribala Balika Vidyalay has alleged that she was asked to disrobe inside the staff room after she was accused by one of her classmates of stealing money. Physical education teacher Rupali De wanted to search her and hence asked her to strip.
However, De as well as the school authorities refuted the allegation. The family members of the girl lodged a complaint with the Gopalnagar police against the teachers under Section IPC 354 and 509 for outraging the modesty of a girl on Friday.
Another Class 8 girl at Derokrishna Banitirtha Balika Vidyalay in Haldia of East Midnapore was asked to disrobe and use her uniform to wipe out the water which she had spilled on the floor. However, according to the girl, she had not spilled the water on the floor. She alleged that principal Sandhya Jana ordered her to disrobe and even beat her up.
The girl fell sick after coming back from school and her family members lodged a complaint with the managing committee of the school on Friday who assured them to look into the matter.
However, Jana refuted the allegation but said that sometimes strict punishments are meted out to students to maintain discipline in the school.
