Two persons were on Saturday arrested for allegedly sending threat mails to Congress leaders Sonia Gandhi, Rahul Gandhi, Union Home Minister P Chidambaram, HRD Minister Kapil Sibal and Delhi Police Commissioner B K Gupta on December 25, police said.
"We have arrested the owner of Om Cyber Café Vikrant Kumar and Chotelal Kumar, both from Hazaribagh; and an FIR under the Information and Technology Act has been registered against them," Additional Superintendent of Police Sudarshan Prasad Mandal told a news conference here.
On January 9, the police had detained the two along with another person after Delhi police alerted their counterparts in Hazaribagh about the threat e-mails.
"The messages were sent on December 25 at 9.16 PM on 'Secret my liking at the rate of rediffmail.com.' server threatening to kill Sonia Gandhi, Rahul Gandhi, B K Gupta, P Chidambaram, Kapil Sibal and some journalists, including (those working) in the Hindustan," (daily) the ASP said.
Stating that their networking system was taken to Ranchi for investigation, he said Vikrant Kumar stays near Jhinjhiria while Chotelal Kumar lives near Babutola locality of Ichak Police station in Hazaribagh town.
