2 Kashmiri militants held in Bhopal
Two Kashmiri militants, wanted in cases registered in Bandipora in Jammu and Kashmir, have been arrested by the Bhopal police.
Madhya Pradesh director general of police S.K. Raut told media-persons at the police headquarters here on Saturday that the two militants, identified as Shaukat Ahmed Hakim and Mehrajuddin Shergujari, were caught from the congested Tallaiya police station area of old Bhopal on the intervening night of December 31 and January 1.
Answering a query, Mr Raut said that the police zeroed in and nabbed the militants on a tip-off by the Jammu and Kashmir police. “Both the militants were wanted for involvement in terrorist activities in Bandipora district of Jammu and Kashmir and a police team from that state will soon be here to take their custody,” the DGP told reporters.
Mr Raut said that the arrested militants belonging to Bandipora were involved in terrorist activities. He said it will not be possible to tell which militant organisation they worked for at this stage.
A police team from Jammu and Kashmir had already left for Bhopal, a police source said later on Saturday afternoon.
