2 miners killed, 1 injured in WCL's coal mine mishap
Betul (Madhya Pradesh): Two miners were killed and another seriously injured on Saturday in a mishap at the Western Coalfields Limited's (WCL) mine in Chhattarpur district, officials said.
Angry over the incident, the workers union protested against the WCL management for not having adequate security measures at the mine in Pathakheda area, they said.
The mishap occurred at the W-4 line of mine number two which was recently opened.
While digging coal, a heavy stone fell on the miners following which one of them, identified as Rajendra Mandal, was killed on the spot while two others identified as Nandlal and Ramswaroop were seriously injured, the officials said.
They were admitted in the WCL's Pathakheda Hospital where Ramswaroop succumbed to his injuries.
Nandlal was referred to Nagpur for treatment, after his condition became critical, they said.
