2 students, 3 others killed in accidents

Two management students were killed while three others, including two girls, suffered critical injuries as a Maruti Suzuki SX4 was hit by an unidentified vehicle in Ghazipur area of east Delhi on Thursday night.

The police said the incident took place at around 3.40 am on Ghazipur flyover. The police has recovered beer bottles from the car and suspect that the victims were drunk when the incident happened.
The deceased have been identified as Nikhil Kadyayan, 20, and Divya Sharma, 21, while the injured are Siddharth, Samanta and Sakshi.
“They were headed towards Ghaziabad when an unidentified vehicle rammed their vehicle. The car was badly mangled. All the five suffered injuries and were rushed to Lal Bahadur Shastri Hospital where doctors declared Nikhil and Divya brought dead. The three injured were referred to Guru Tegh Bahadur Hospital from where they were shifted to private hospitals by their parents,” a senior police official said.
The police has registered a case of rash and negligent driving causing death against unknown persons. Bodies of the deceased were handed over to their family.
Nikhil, a resident of Vasundhara, Ghaziabad, was pursuing hotel management course from a private institute and his father is the vice-president of a construction company.
A senior police official said Nikhil’s parents have donated his eyes.
Divya, a native of Ghaziabad, was also pursuing his management course and was living in a rented accommodation with his mother in Vasant Kunj area in Delhi.
Meanwhile, three people were killed in road accidents in the capital.
Two friends were killed in Jaitpur, southeast Delhi, when their motorcycle was hit by an unknown vehicle. The deceased, Bharat Vajpayee, 25, and Ved Prakash, 26, were returning from their office.
In another accident, 20-year-old Azad lost his life when a Hyundai i-10 car hit a tractor in Vasant Kunj (south) at around 10.40 am.
