200 more MBBS seats for Andhra Pradesh
Hyderabad/Nizamabad: Here’s some heartening news for medical aspirants. Students who want to pursue an MBBS course in Andhra Pradesh have a reason to cheer, as the Medical Council of India has approved the establishment of a new medical college in Nizamabad and has recognised a college in Adilabad.
Over 200 more seats have been added to the kitty of the state and the students can avail of these soon. New Medical College, Nizamabad, has 100 seats and the Rajiv Gandhi Institute of Medical Sciences has another 100 seats in Adilabad. Students from these areas, who want to opt for a medical course, now do not have to travel too far.
While this is a reason to smile, all is not perfect. The proposal for an increase in the number of seats from 150 to 250 at Deccan College of Medical Sciences has been turned down. The medical council members have pulled up their standards and have turned strict.
They now insist that the medical colleges must follow the rules to the T. Hence, they are now sending their doctors to inspect the medical colleges before renewing the permissions. The renewal of permissions for Apollo Institute of Medical Sciences and Research, Hyderabad, and Fathima Institute of Medical Sciences, Kadapa, will be done only after the inspectors have checked the premises and the teaching facilities.
