20,000 C’garh girls sold in 8 years: Jogi
Former Chhattisgarh chief minister Ajit Jogi on Sunday claimed that nearly 20,000 girls from tribal dominated areas of the state have been sold in metropolitans in the country in the past eight years.
Mr Jogi said trafficking of girls have mostly been witnessed in the tribal districts of Jashpur, Raigarh, Koriya, Korba and Sarguja. The girls, mostly minors, were lured by human traffickers with the promise of jobs and their rehabilitations outside the state and sold in cities like Chennai, Mumbai, Bengaluru and Delhi.
“The gullible girls have fallen victims to the human traffickers because of their poverty. The state BJP government is totally indifferent to the issue,” Mr Jogi said.
