26/11 was premeditated, SC told

In a bid to sustain the death sentence to lone surviving Pakistan terrorist of 26/11 Mumbai attack, Ajmal Kasab, the Maharashtra government on Thursday placed on record a diary recovered from one of his nine accomplices killed by the security forces to show it as a “crucial” evidence how all of them were deeply involved in a conspiracy to wage war against India.

The eight-page diary recovered from Ismail, who was shot dead during security forces’ operation, reflected how prepared the terrorists were and how they were in constant touch with their masterminds in Paksitan, Maharasthra’s counsel Gopal Subraman-iam told a bench of Justices Aftab Alam and C.K. Prasad.
The diary was written in Urdu, but the Maharasthra anti-terror squad sleuths had got it translated into Hindi and both the versions were placed on record. The names of all the terrorists, including Kasab, was written in the diary.
Justice Alam, who is well conversed in Urdu language, even pointed out certain mistakes in the Hindi translation with regard to the name of one of the terrorist Shoaib made out as Mujahid. Mr Subramaniam explained that the first page of the diary contains 24 hour time table drawn by the terrorists for the guard duty after they had hijacked fishing boat MP-Kuber belonging to one Amar Chand Solanki from Porbandar in Gujarat.
The diary also has graphic details about how the ten terrorists should guard in turn, it also has details bout the equipment and other edible items they were carrying. It also mentions details about GPS for longitudes and latitudes navigation, satellite phone cards. Besides, it find mention of the names of places, like Machimanagar, Colaba, Cuffe Parade, Rajabhai Tower, Regal Chowk, Nariman Point and WTC, which they were supposed to attack, Mr Subramaniam pointed out.

I want to begin with a little story that was told to me by a leading executive at Aptech. He was exercising in a gym with a lot of younger people.

Shekhar Kapur’s Bandit Queen didn’t make the cut. Neither did Shaji Karun’s Piravi, which bagged 31 international awards.
