28 kg gold sold via post offices on Dhanteras in MP
Setting new records, at least 28 kg of gold was sold through Post Offices all over Madhya Pradesh yesterday on the occasion of "Dhanteras." On the occasion, the post offices sold gold coins having weights of 0.5 gm, 1.0 gm, 5.0 gms, 8.0 gms and 20.0 gms.
The value of the gold sold through post offices in the state is estimated to be Rs 5.5 crore. With this, post offices emerged as the largest seller of gold on the occasion of Dhanteras.
The gold coins were sold through 57 post offices in the state and there was a special six per cent discount for customers. Post office officials said that the discount and the sale of gold coins would continue till December end this year and added that more centres for the purpose would be opened in 2011.
Customers queued in to buy the gold coins from the post offices as they were assured of the quality there.
