2G: CAG to get DoT answers on Monday
After going through details of over 15,000 phone calls made in connection with the 2G spectrum scam, the CAG is likely to get access to the Department of Telecom’s answers to a questionnaire sent by various agencies investigating the 2G scam. Sources said that the CAG is likely to receive the answers on Monday. However, the senior CAG officials were not available for comments.
Meanwhile, CAG had earlier also asked for the access of the questionnaire sent by the Public Accounts Committee (PAC), headed by BJP leader Murli Manohar Joshi, to the telecom ministry on 2G spectrum allocation scam and other developments in the sector.
The Comptroller and Auditor General (CAG) and other investigative agencies received the details of over 15,000 phone calls by the CBI earlier in the month.
Sources have pointed out that the phone details of the DoT officials who are under scrutiny of the investigative agencies for their involvement in the 2G spectrum scam might contradict some answers given by the DoT.
However, senior CAG and CVC investigating the scam have refused to comment.
The answers to questionnaire highlight a wide range of gaps in policy implementation right from 2003 onwards.
