2G: Sonia to talk to PM
As the Prime Minister’s Office continues to get embroiled in the 2G note controversy, Congress president Sonia Gandhi is expected to talk to core committee members and Prime Minister Manmohan Singh to find a way to defuse the crisis. Union finance minister Pranab Mukherjee, who returned from
Kolkata Wednesday night, is also likely to meet Mrs Gandhi to discuss the issue.
He has, however, already “presented facts” on the 2G note to both Mrs Gandhi and the Prime Minister. His notes were a “summary of the sequence of events”, sources said. However, home minister P. Chidambaram is reportedly upset at the way the UPA has handled the issue. He had expressed “surprise” at the “secret note” being leaked from the PMO to the RTI Act applicant, sources said. Mr Mukherjee on Wednesday spoke to Mr Chidambaram yet again.
