2G triggers corporate war: Tata targets BJP
The 2G scam triggered a corporate war with Ratan Tata hitting out at the policies of the BJP-led NDA government, and MP Rajeev Chandrasekhar, who had alleged that Tatas were among biggest beneficiaries of the spectrum allocation.
Mr Tata accused certain GSM operators and journalists of trying to subvert policies. Reacting to an open letter by Mr Chandr-asekhar, Mr Tata said the recent policy broke a powerful cartel and demanded that 2G allocation since 2001 be probed. Mr Chandrasekhar said later that Mr Tata was “diverting” from the issues raised. n More on Page 3

PC: Contours of J&K deal in a few months?

Dec. 9: Union home minister P. Chidambaram said on Thursday that the “contours” of a political solution to the Kashmir problem could be expected to emerge in the next few months.
Addressing a parliamentary committee, he said the situation in Kashmir had improved considerably after the government announced an eight-point plan for the state recently, and this process must be “strengthened”.
