2G witness against kani turns hostile
A prosecution witness in the 2G spectrum allocation case went back on his statement given to the CBI as he told the trial court on Friday that DMK MP Kanimozhi did not take keen interest in the day-to-day affairs of Kalaignar TV Pvt. Ltd, to which the money trail was traced.
According to the CBI, Kalaignar TV director P. Amirtham, in his statement given to the agency under CrPC Sec. 161, had said Ms Kanimozhi took keen interest in the channel’s day-to-day affairs. However, Mr Amritham turned hostile in court, saying that throughout his tenure he had not seen “any resolution or document by which powers of any kind were conferred on Kanimozhi”. Deposing before special CBI judge O.P. Saini, he said Ms Kanimozhi was initially “very reluctant” to join but she agreed under pressure from her father, M. Karunanidhi.
