Another Congress worker Ripon Seikh, 30, was found murdered on Gitgram village market in Bharatpur police station area on early Sunday morning. Two CPI(M) workers Sajahan Seikh, the husband of CPI(M) panchayat candidate Arafun Bibi and the pillion driver Ataul Seikh sustained bomb and bullet injuries at Jhikira village more on Sunday morning . CPI(M) accused that armed Trinamul goons tried to kill the CPI(M) workers. The injured were admitted to the Murshidabad Medical College Hospital in Berhampore. According to police sources, situation in Kapasadanga village remained tensed as Congress and TMC workers hurled bombs at each other for several hours. At around 3 am on Sunday morning, both the victims — Hayat Seikh and Nur Islam — came out of their houses. After sounds of several rounds of explosion, two bodies were found on the village road. Though minister of state for railways and Congress leader Adhir Chowdhury blamed that it was the armed TMC goons (formerly CPI(M) workers) who tried to kill Congress workers in order to unleash a reign of terror just before panchayat election. On the other hand, Murshidabad SP Humayun Kabir denied the allegation.
He said that the workers were killed while they were making crude bombs in Majid Ali’s residence in Kapasdanga, Majh para area. Majid Ali’s building was destroyed in the explosion. The police also seized six crude bombs from that house and arrested four persons in this connection.
Former CPI(M) minister and MLA Anisur Rahaman said that the Congress was trying to malign their image, no CPI(M) workers were involved in this twin murder. While, Trinamul Congress leader and former state minister Humayun Kabir said that the Congress was trying to malign TMC. According to sources, Congress indiscriminately hurled bombs on Saturday night to forcibly occupy Kapas-danga village.
