3 cops in Bihar punished for ‘misconduct’ in last 3 days
Three Bihar policemen have been punished by the department in the past three days for gross misconduct. While one sub-inspector was on Saturday forced into compulsory retirement for shielding a suspected dealer of explosives, two other sub-inspectors were suspended for illegally detaining a man for 20 days.
The officer in-charge of Munger town police station, Ashok Kumar Yadav, was punished with compulsory retirement on an order issued by DIG Sudhanshu Kumar after a departmental probe confirmed Mr Yadav’s “wilful misconduct”.
Mr Yadav, a policeman of the sub-inspector rank, was suspended last year by then DIG Anil Kishore Yadav, who had detected his wrongdoing.
According to sources, Mr Yadav had lodged a wrong FIR citing theft of a vehicle that was seized laden with explosives in Jharkhand’s Koderma district. “It was clearly a deliberate act to shield the car’s owner, businessman Sanjay Shah.
