3 ex-CMs deny flat scam link
Amid reports that more leaders from the Congress and NCP in Maharashtra could have links with the controversial Adarsh Housing Society, three former Maharashtra chief ministers and an NCP leader claimed Sunday that they had not recommended any case for membership.
Union minister Vilasrao Deshmukh, state revenue minister Narayan Rane and state water resources minister Ajit Pawar, who is a nephew of Union minister Sharad Pawar, rejected the allegations against them as an attempt to defame them.
Union minister Sushilku-mar Shinde, also a former CM, said only newspapers were making a “hue and cry” over the Adarsh Housing Society matter. These comments by Mr Deshmukh, Mr Pawar, Mr Rane and Mr Shinde came against the backdrop of reports by TV channels alleging that some top state Congress-NCP leaders had recommended and pushed for flats in the Adarsh Society for their associates and persons known to them, setting off a blame game.
