3 jawans killed, another injured in Naxal ambush
Three jawans of Sashastra Seema Bal (SSB) were killed and another critically injured when suspected Naxals triggered landmine blast targeting a convoy of security forces in Bastanar area of Chhattisgarh’s Dantewada district on Friday morning, the police said.
A total of 48 jawans of the 41st battalion of SSB were travelling in 11 vehicles to Raipur when they were ambushed by the Maoists at Kiskepara, barely seven km from Gidam police station at around 9.30 am. The Naxal landmine, planted roadside on National Highway 16, hit the convoy’s fourth vehicle, carrying four jawans.
“While two japans died on the spot, two others were seriously injured. One of the injured succumbed during treatment at the Jagdalpur hospital in Bastar district. The other injured was airlifted to a private hospital in Raipur,” DIG and spokesman Vivek Sinha told this newspaper.
