3 revenue officers suspended for deals

The Rajasthan government has suspended three revenue officers (tehsildars) in alleged sale of huge lands in the desert region of Rajasthan on forged documents. The government also imposed a ban on “any where registration” in three tehsils of Jodhpur, which are adjacent to the border districts.

Taking serious note of land deal, the state government has suspended Bhopalgarh’s tehsildar and deputy tehsildar namely Mahesh Sharma and Indra Singh and sub-registrar (Jodhpur), Ramchandra Meena. The revenue board has initiated a probe against all three officials.
According to the revenue department, Mumbai and Delhi-based companies had purchased a huge stretch of land spreading across Jodhpur district’s Phalodi tehsil and Baap sub-tehsil while the farmers were not contacted for the deal.
The registries of such lands ere executed at Bhopalgarh and Jodhpur.
According to the sources, the companies have spent `8 crores on purchase of lands and deals were made through middle men active in the area. The police had lodged over two dozen FIRs and arrested 18 people in the forged land deal cases.
