‘330 rebels set to infiltrate J&K’
The civilian establishment in Pakistan may be interested in talks with India but the Pakistan Army seems hell-bent on fomenting trouble in Jammu and Kashmir. Latest intelligence reports indicate that about 330 militants are waiting in launch pads near the LoC in Pakistan-occupied Kas-hmir (PoK) to infiltrate into Jammu and Kashmir, sources in the security establishment said.
Intelligence reports also indicate a plan by the Pakistani ISI to foment trouble through stone-pelting in south Kashmir.
Sources said about 80 to 100 militants are camped at launch pads opposite the Poonch sector, about 70 to 80 militants in launch pads opposite the Uri sector and about 100 to 150 militants in launch pads opposite the Machil sector.
Intelligence reports indicate that some groups of militants may have successfully infiltrated into J&K from the south of the Pir Panjal ranges under cover of heavy firing and ceasefire violations by the Pakistani Army.
Sources said there have been a total of 69 ceasefire violations by the Pakistan Army from August 1 this year alone. Of these, 55 violations took place in August while 14 more ceasefire violations have taken place this month (September) so far.
