3,500 cases of attrition in CRPF so far this year
In over 9,000 cases of attrition in Central paramilitary forces this year, the CRPF has reported the highest with 3,522 personnel quitting their job. Minister of state for home affairs Ajay Maken informed Parliament that the personnel are quitting the forces for varying reasons such as domestic problems, deployment in remote and difficult
terrain, besides voluntary retirement schemes and death or disability. Other reasons cited by the minister were fear of punishment for wrong doings, attractive alternative employment and reduction of qualifying service for full pension after the Sixth Central Pay Commission.
While the CRPF, which is also the largest paramilitary force, reported highest attrition, it was followed by the BSF with 3,000 and CISF with 1,417 personnel leaving the forces. In total, the attrition rate up to June 30 this year in the six paramilitary forces was 9,036.
The home ministry also informed that there is increasing use of Internet and email by terror outfits. In a bid to develop skills to track such elements, the department of information technology (DIT) has initiated a programme specially designed to develop cyber forensic tools as well as building infrastructure for investigation and training of law enforcement and judicial offices in collection and analysis of the digital evidence.
