4 directors of Air India tell PMO they’re being ignored
Strong complaints against the Air India management’s style of functioning surfaced at a meeting that four independent directors of the state-owned airline had Monday with Mr T.K.A. Nair, principal secretary to the Prime Minister.
Some of the directors complained to the Prime Minister’s Office (PMO) that their advice — on the airline’s financial turnaround — was being repeatedly ignored by the Air India management. They also criticised the style of functioning of Air India CMD Arvind Jadhav. The PMO was told this was one reason why the airline’s financial turnaround was delayed.
The PMO was also told that advice on issues relating to the merger (of the erstwhile Air India and Indian Airlines) was being ignored, well-informed sources confirmed to this newspaper late Monday evening.
The four independent directors were industrialists Anand Mahindra and Harsh Neotia, former IAF chief Air Chief Marshal F.H. Major (Retd) and Ficci secretary-general Amit Mitra.
