4 killed, 11 injured in 13 lightning incidents in J&K
Four persons were killed and 11 others injured in 13 separate lightning incidents in Samba, Rajouri, Poonch and Udhampur districts of Jammu and Kashmir, police said on Thursday.
A woman, Jan Bi, was killed when lightning struck her in Galota village in Rajouri district last night, the police said, adding that a brick-kiln labourer was killed in a similar incident in Dubbaj village in Samba district.
The bodies were handed over to the families after post-mortem, they said.
Lightning struck an under-construction house in Kak-Da-Buj village in Samba district last night killing two labourers from Chattisgarh and injuring two others, the police said.
In a separate incident, six persons in Poonch district and another two at Balota village in Udhampur district were injured when struck by lightning, officials said.
An employee of Baba Gulam Shah Badshah University was also injured and hospitalised in a lightning incident in Rajouri district.
Lightning also struck a bank and a shopping complex in Udhampur and a cowshed in Bari Brahamana area of Jammu district, without any casualties, police added.
The state saw inclement weather last night after being lashed by torrential rain.
