5 held; mobiles, bikes recovered
Visakhapatnam: City police on Thurs-day arrested two gangs and recovered 14 mobile phones and five motorcycles. A four-member gang Sonu Ku-mar Nunia, Tata Nun-ia, Kutla Nunia and Ra-mnath Nunia of Sahib-ganj district, Jharkha-nd, came to Vizag city a few weeks ago as tourists and had stolen more than 30 mobiles from various places under Gopalapatnam police station limits.
Following frequent complaints of mobile phone thefts, police formed special teams and intensified patroll-ing at strategic points and nabbed the gang while it was trying to steal mobiles at Gopalapatnam, assistant commissioner of police (North) B. Prasada Rao said.
He said the gang was involved in stealing mobiles in Jharkhand and Odisha. All the accused are below 20 years, he said.
In another case, Gopalapatnam police arrested A. Kamaraju, of Koyyuru for lifting five motorcycles in city and from neighbouring districts. Kamaraju used to lift parked vehicles under Gopalapa-tnam police station limits, police said. Police registered a case and are investigating.
