5 Indians arrested in Nepal for trafficking, arms smuggling
Five Indians are among 10 people arrested in Nepal for their alleged involvement in separate cases of human trafficking and illegal arms trade rackets.
Indian national Jasbir Singh Gale and three Nepalese nationals were arrested in a tourist hotspot here, for trafficking girls to Indian cities on the pretext of “recruiting” them for work in a Goa casino.
Three Nepalese women were also arrested in connection with the case. The accused were arrested in Thamel, a tourist hub of Kathmandu, while trying to traffic 11 Nepalese women through land route to India on the pretext of providing employment to them in Goa's “O” casino, according to Kathmandu Metropolitan Police Circle.
The 11 women were also rescued following the arrest. In a similar case, the police arrested Nepalese nationals Som Bahadur Tamang and Sanjiv Lama in Kathmandu for allegedly forcing girls into prostitution.
Meanwhile, four other Indian nationals were arrested at a residence in Maitidevi for their alleged involvement in illegally selling arms in Nepal. Those arrested are Abhishek Singh, 28, and Ashish Sribastav, 27, from Ayodhya and Ashutosh, 30, and Pradip Shukla, 24, from Gorakhpur.
