5-yr-old boy caned cruelly by principal

A five-year-old LKG student was beaten mercilessly by the principal of his school, the Orbit Grammar School at Indira Gandhi Puram on Wednesday. The incident came to light on Thursday when the parents approached police.

The Sanathnagar police booked a case against the principal and owner of the school Mumtaz Ahmed
and arrested him.

Sources said the boy, Mohammed Ghouse, had received several injuries on his left hand and back.

Sanathnagar sub-inspector S.Srinivasulu said Mumtaz Ahmed, the principal the Orbit Grammar School at Indira Gandhi Puramhad, hit 5-year-old Mohammed Ghouse with a cane repeatedly after his mother complained that he had tried to bunk class.

“On Wednesday, Ghouse had returned home from school in the morning saying that he was not
feeling well. Realising that the child was lying, his mother took him back to school and told the principal to persuade the boy to stay in school. However, when he came back home in the
evening, his parents found several injuries on his body,” Srinivasulu said.

“When he returned home on Wednesday morning, I took him to school and told the principal to be
a little strict with him. I never thought he would beat my son like this,” said the boy’s mother Masa Bi. “In the evening Ghouse looked pale. When I asked, he started crying and showed me the wounds,” she said.

The boy was treated at a private hospital.

On Thursday, many locals went to the school and questioned the principal leading to tension.
Meanwhile, on the complaint of Ghouse’s father Muhammed Khaleel, the police booked a case under
IPC Section 324 (for voluntarily causing hurt using dangerous weapons) and arrested the
principal.

Both parents of Ghouse are daily wage labourers working in the same area.

I want to begin with a little story that was told to me by a leading executive at Aptech. He was exercising in a gym with a lot of younger people.
